This eight-session group running from March 25th to May 13th is an opportunity for parents, caregivers, partners and friends of individuals struggling with an eating disorder to receive support in a warm and empathic environment. Topics may include the following:
∙ Understanding eating disorders
∙ Meal support and symptom interruption
∙ Emotional support through the use of emotion coaching skills
∙ Repairing relationships
∙ Obstacles and blocks in the caregiver’s journey
∙ Self-care for caregivers
∙ Styles of caregiving
∙ Navigating the system of care
∙ Dealing with stigma
Group facilitators spend part of each group providing education and skills practice, but considerable emphasis is placed on open discussion and peer support. This group is open to parents, step-parents, grand-parents, aunts, uncles, spouses, partners, friends and any other adult caregiver - whether or not they are involved in active treatment with their loved one, and regardless of age and motivation to change.
This group is being offered at $80 for an individual registration, or $125 for a duo registration (caregivers of the same individual). We also have pay-what-you-can options available if cost is a barrier to registration.
