Striving for Balance: A Recovery Group for Achievers
This group will provide support for those suffering from eating disorders with a focus on the unique challenges faced by those who are driven by high standards, perfectionism, and often experience high levels of stress. The group will address the pressures associated with achievement-oriented lifestyles and explore how these pressures can impact food, body image, and self-worth. Discussions will emphasize self-compassion, reducing self-criticism, and creating balance. Members will learn strategies for managing stress and perfectionistic tendencies, breaking cycles of disordered eating, and fostering a healthier relationship with food and their bodies. The group will also provide a space to connect with others who share similar goals and challenges.
This group is designed to complement, not replace, services such as counseling, therapy, or in-patient care. As a closed group, we will be meeting via Zoom every Wednesday from 6:00 PM to 7:30 PM, starting on January 15th and running for 8 weeks, concluding on March 5th.
At Hopewell, we understand the financial challenges that can come with accessing mental health treatment. Our mission is to fill the gaps in care by offering accessible support. To make our programs as inclusive as possible, our 8-week support group is priced at $50, which helps us sustain and expand our services. We also offer a pay-what-you-can option, and all services are free for individuals identifying as Indigenous, First Nations, Métis, or Inuit/Innu.
For any questions or concerns, feel free to contact Catherine, Hopewell’s Program Officer, at programs@hopewell.ca.
