Art Therapy Peer Support Group
This group provides a supportive and creative space for individuals on their journey to recovery from eating disorders. Through guided art-making activities and group discussions, participants will explore themes such as self-expression, body image, emotions, and resilience.
No artistic experience is required—this group focuses on the process of creating rather than the final product. Facilitated by a trained art therapist, sessions will encourage participants to connect with their inner selves, find new ways to process their experiences, and develop a sense of community with others who share similar challenges. Whether you’re just beginning your recovery or looking to deepen your self-awareness, this group offers a safe environment to heal through art and shared understanding. Art materials will be gathered by Hopewell staff and will be available for pick-up at Heartwood House one week prior to the start of the group!
This group is designed to complement, not replace, services such as counseling, therapy, or in-patient care. As a closed group, we will be meeting via Zoom every Monday from 6:00 PM to 7:30 PM, starting January 27th meeting together for 8 weeks.
At Hopewell, we understand the financial challenges that can come with accessing mental health treatment. Our mission is to fill the gaps in care by offering accessible support. To make our programs as inclusive as possible, this 8-week support group is priced at $100 (this includes all art supplies), which helps us sustain and expand our services. We also offer a pay-what-you-can option, and all services are free for individuals identifying as Indigenous, First Nations, Métis, or Inuit/Innu.
For any questions or concerns, feel free to contact Catherine, Hopewell’s Program Officer, at programs@hopewell.ca.
