DROP-IN BIPOC Peer Support Group
Hopewell’s drop-in BIPOC peer support group offers a supportive, inclusive, and welcoming space where individuals from Black, Indigenous, and People of Color communities come together to explore and share their unique experiences, challenges, and triumphs in navigating eating disorder recovery. Participants will find a safe environment to provide input on certain topics of discussion, such as cultural pressures, systemic racism, and the impact of colonialism on body image and eating behaviours. As a drop-in group, you are not required to attend all 8 groups, although it is highly encouraged! Groups will take place on Thursday evenings, starting August 8th for a duration of 8 weeks.
Through guided discussions and peer support, led by our informed and culturally-responsive facilitator, Sophia, participants can connect with others who share similar backgrounds and struggles, fostering a sense of belonging and mutual understanding. The group can also provide educational resources and strategies tailored to the unique needs of BIPOC individuals, helping them to build resilience and develop healthy coping mechanisms. Whether you are at the beginning of your recovery journey or have been working on it for some time, this group aims to support you in your path toward healing and self-acceptance.
Join us in creating a community where your voice is heard, your experiences are validated, and your journey to recovery is celebrated. With our continued efforts of breaking down barriers for mental health support, especially for marginalized communities, this group is free of cost.
